MINNEAPOLIS – The St. Scholastica women’s basketball team defeated North Central University 87-33 this evening in the 2009-10 season opener.

The 54-point margin is the largest margin of victory for the Saints since the 2005-06 season when the Saints defeated the Rams by 52 points. The largest margin of victory is 67 back in 1988. The win gives CSS head coach Stacy Deadrick 199 career wins. The Saints are 15-0 all-time against the Rams.

In her first collegiate game, Bri Allen (Fr.-West St. Paul, Minn./Henry Sibley) poured in a game-high 21 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds for St. Scholastica. The Saints held the Rams to just 12 points in the first half as they shot just 2-for-20 from the field.

Kirsten Haukom (Sr.-Marshall, Minn.) was the only other Saint in double-figures as she had 11 points. Shannon Lehikoinen (So.-Superior, Wis.) added nine points. The Saints shot 45-percent for the game, while holding the Rams to 19-percent. North Central made just nine field goals, which is a CSS record for fewest field goals allowed in a game.
