UMAC All-Conference Release
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Six St. Scholastica women’s tennis players have been named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) All-Conference Team, including
Ploy Suthijindawong (
Fr.-Bangkok, Thailand/Duluth Central), who was named Player of the Year; it was announced today by UMAC Sports Information Director Greg Johnson.

Callee Conda (
So.-Hibbing, Minn.),
Katie Motley (
Jr.-Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert),
Angela Shields (
Jr.-Pengilly, Minn./Greenway), and
Lynnae Wilke (
Sr.-Parkers Prairie, Minn.) all earned first team honors. Head Coach Wells Patten was named UMAC Coach of the Year after guiding the Saints to their 13th consecutive conference regular season and postseason titles. CSS has also earned its third straight NCAA Tournament bid.
Ploy, just a freshman, was named player of the year after going 18-1 in singles matches, including 4-0 in conference action. She captured the No. 1 singles championship at last Saturday’s UMAC Tournament. She also paired up with Katie Motley to win the No. 1 doubles title. Ploy has won 18 straight matches and is ranked sixth in the Central Region, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
Katie Motley was named to the all-conference team for a third straight year. Along with her second consecutive No. 1 doubles title, she won the No. 2 singles flight for the second time in as many years. Motley was 5-0 in both conference singles and doubles matches this season.
Paula Beckermann was also named to the All-UMAC team for the third straight season. Beckermann was named the conference’s player of the year last season.
Callee Conda earns all-conference honors after she went 4-0 in both singles and doubles matches in UMAC play this season. Conda won the No. 3 singles flight championship last Saturday and also teamed up with
Kelly Ross (
Jr.-Buffalo, Minn.) to win the No. 3 doubles title.
Angela Shields is named to the all-conference team for the first time. Shields was 12-2 in singles matches this season, including 7-0 in the conference. Shields won the No. 4 singles flight title after winning the No. 6 singles title last season.
Lynnae Wilke is also named to an all-conference team for the first time as she went 9-0 in UMAC singles matches this season. Wilke won the No. 6 singles flight at the UMAC Tournament.
The Saints will be in action on Thursday in the NCAA Tournament when they face Luther College (Iowa) in St. Peter, Minn.
