ST. PETER, Minn. – The St. Scholastica women’s tennis team was defeated today 5-0 by Gustavus Adolphus in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Gusties took all three doubles matches with the No. 1 team of Ploy Suthijindawong (Fr.-Bangkok, Thailand/Duluth Central) and Katie Motley (Jr.-Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) putting up a good fight falling 9-7. The Saints then lost at No.5 and No. 6 singles to end the match as Gustavus had the five wins to clinch the match and advance to face Wheaton College (Ill.) tomorrow.

The Saints season ends with an 18-9 record. Ploy Suthijindawong will still be in action as she will take part in the NCAA Division III National Singles Championships on May 22-24 at Collins Hill Athletic Club in Lawrenceville, Georgia. The draw for the individual championships will be done by the women’s tennis committee and will be released on the last day of the team championships.
