JOEY WOOD INDUCTED INTO SAINTS BASEBALL HALL OF FAME

DULUTH, Minn. - Joey Wood (Orono High School) was inducted into the St. Scholastica Baseball Hall of Fame Saturday night in front of over 250 people at Somers Lounge on the CSS campus.

Wood, an outfielder for the Saints from 1997-2001 and a captain his senior year of 2001, helped lead St. Scholastica to three National Tournaments.

The Saints also honored their 2009 team, which advanced to the NCAA National Tournament and finished the season 36-7.

Adian Kummet (Brainerd, Minn./Brainerd HS), a Cincinnati Reds draft pick, received his All-American award and All-Region awards were handed out to pitcher Peter Burg (St. Joseph, Minn./St. Cloud Cathedral), first basemen Sean Claugherty (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan HS), and second basemen and Brian Marshik (Arden Hills, Minn./Mounds View HS ). Marshik also won the Tullberg Trophy as the team's most valuable player.

Earlier in the day, the current Saints defeated the Saints Alumni 6-5 at Wade Stadium.
