PREVIEW: TWO CONFERENE MATCH-UPS FOR THE SAINTS

Duluth, Minn. – The Saints kick-off this weekend with the first two games in a four-game home stretch. Martin Luther and Bethany Lutheran come to town for UMAC games. The Saints play the Martin Luther Knights on Friday night at 5:30 p.m. and the Bethany Lutheran Vikings on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Last Action: The Saints were led by Senior #Kirsten Haukom# (Marshall, Minn.) as she put up a team-high 13 points. However it was not enough to beat the top team in the UMAC as they lost to Northland 60-48. In both teams last game Bethany Lutheran defeated Martin Luther 57-47. Anna Cepek led the Vikings with 17 points. Alongside her was Nicole Jones who added nine points, nine rebounds and six steals. Martin Luther had two players in double figures for scoring. Erica Babinec had a game-high 18 points and nine rebounds and Katherine Kogler added 13 points.

St. Scholastica Saints Notes: The Saints are led by senior and All-UMAC guard Kirsten Haukom (Marshall, Minn./Marshall HS). Haukom led the Saints in virtually every statistical category last year and is at the tops of most of them again this year. Haukom is averaging 13 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game. She has been in double figures for scoring in 13 of the team's 16 games, and going over 20 points three times on the year…#Laura Amys# (South Range, Wis.) is averaging 6.2 points per game and 5.2 boards per game. Amys has led the team in rebounds in three of the last four contests and is averaging 9.5 rebounds over the last four games…CSS is averaging 65.4 points per game.

Martin Luther Knights Notes: After losing their first eight games on the year, the Knights have won three of five….The Knights have three players averaging double figures for points. Erica Babinec (14.2), Sarah Free (12.5) and Katherine Kogler (10.5)….Emily Boldt and Erica Babinec are leading the team in rebounds at 6.8 and 6.3 respectively…Babinec has scored in double figures in all but three games this year, with a season-high 27 vs. Dakota Wesleyan…The Knights are averaging 60 points per game.

Bethany Lutheran Vikings Notes: The Vikings have won five of six coming into this weekend….Anna Cepek is averaging just under 13 points per game, including scoring in double figures in six of the teams last seven games. Cepek has scored 22 points on two occasions this year, both games were against Finlandia earlier this month…Nicole Jones is averaging 7.8 rebounds per game over the last five games for the Vikings. As well Jones is averaging 9.5 points per game over the last six contests….The Vikings are averaging 65.7 points per game.

Last Meetings: In the first round of the 2009 UMAC postseason tournament the Knights beat the Saints 55-41. #Erin Morstad#, #Alexa Leighton# and #Katie Christensen# led the Saints with six points. Laura Amys (South Range, Wis./Superior HS) had a team-high seven rebounds.

In the second to last game of the year the Saints beat the Vikings 66-60 and clinched a UMAC postseason tournament bid. Haukom had a team-high 19 points. #Kelly Cinquegrani# added 11 points and a team-high six rebounds.
