Complete List of Recipients
ST. PAUL – The College of St. Scholastica had 70 Academic All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) recipients from the 2009 fall season, while volleyball and women’s soccer had the best team grade-point-average in their respective sports; it was announced today by UMAC Sports Information Director Greg Johnson.
A record-355 student-athletes from 13 institutions received recognition for an award. The total number of student-athletes who were named to their respective academic all-conference teams was significantly higher than the 235 that received the award a year ago. However, the UMAC welcomed four new schools to participate in the sport of football in 2009-10, which increased the overall number of recipients. The conference had 225 winners in the fall of 2007, 166 in 2006 and 176 in 2005.
Following the Saints was Martin Luther College with 62 recipients, while Northwestern College was third with 51 honorees.
With 68 recipients, the sport of football had the most individual academic all-conference awards. At 63 and 59 respectively, women’s soccer and women’s cross country took second and third places.
The St. Scholastica volleyball team had the top team grade-point-average in their sport at 3.52. The CSS women’s soccer team also had the best GPA in their sport at 3.42. Women’s Soccer was also the most represented Saints’ team with 17 members chosen. Women’s cross country was second with 16 members and football was third with 11 members.
To qualify one must post a 3.50 or better semester GPA based a on a 4.0 scale. Also he or she must compete in the sport in which he or she is nominated in the season that corresponds with the selection. The complete list of fall CSS academic award recipients is as follows:
