RIVER FALLS, Wis. – The fifth-ranked St. Scholastica hockey team took the ice at Hunt Arena tonight against the 14th-ranked University of Wisconsin-River Falls Falcons. Led by Riley Riddell’s (Jr.- Wawota, Sask./UW-River Falls) four assists, the Saints cruised to a 6-0 victory.

The key Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) victory puts the Saints at 14-3-3 overall (8-2-3 NCHA). UWRF falls to 11-7-2 (5-6-2 NCHA). The Saints retain second place in the conference, three points behind St. Norbert.

CSS took advantage of a River Falls interference penalty and struck first on the power-play, as Tyler Miller (Fr.- Thunder Bay, Ont./Thunder Bay (SIJHL) netted his sixth goal of the year, with assists from Riddell and Dustin DeGagne (Sr.- Winnipeg Man./Salmon Arm (BCHL). That goal came at 11:30. Two minutes later Jeremy Dawes (So.-Winnipeg Man./Portage (MJHL) tallied his 11th goal of the year with help from Riddell and Miller. Dawes has scored in four straight games. CSS lead 2-0 at the first intermission.

Garet Chumley (Fr.-Brainerd, Minn./Jersey (EJHL) got his third goal of the year six minutes into the second period, with assists from Brenden Bradbury (Fr.- Monticello, Ill/Waywayseecappo (MJHL) and Rob Rodgers (Sr.- Salmon Arm, BC/Salmon Arm (BCHL). CSS made it 4-0 at the 6:38-mark when Jordan Baird (Sr.- Port McNeill, BC./Victoria (BCHL) scored his eighth goal of the year. Carter Davis (So.- Moose Jaw, Sask./Waywayseecappo (MJHL) and Stephane Phaneuf (So.- Winnipeg, Man./Buffalo State College) earned the helpers.

Defenseman Colin Trachsel (Fr-. St. Louis, Mo./Jersey (EJHL) picked up his second goal of the season with a feed from Dawes and Riddell, picking up his playmaker, two minutes into the third. Dawes scored his second goal of the night five minutes later and rounded out the evening’s scoring to make it 6-0 Saints. Miller earned the assist, as well as Riddell.

CSS went one-for-three on the power-play, and held the Falcons to zero power-play goals on three attempts.

CSS goalie Zach Kleiman (Sr.- Ottawa, Ont./Quinnipiac Univ.) earned the shutout with 37 saves. Bo Storozuk had 23 saves for the Falcons.

The Saints will be at the University of Wisconsin-Stout tomorrow night. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. All of the action can be heard live on ESPN Radio 560-WEBC.
