MENOMONIE, Wis. – The fifth-ranked St. Scholastica hockey team completed the road weekend without giving up a goal as the Saints defeated the University of Wisconsin-Stout 3-0 tonight at Dunn County Ice Arena.
The Saints improve to 15-3-3 overall and 9-2-3 in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA). The Blue Devils fall to 9-8-4 overall and 6-4-4 in the conference. The Saints are now 10-1-0 away from home this season.
In their first visit to Dunn County Ice Arena since losing in last year’s NCAA Tournament, the Saints exacted a little revenge on the Blue Devils. After a scoreless first period, the Saints got on the board nine minutes into the second period when
Aaron Spotts (
Sr.-Spokane, Wash.) ripped a slap shot for his third goal of the season.
Jordan Chong (
Sr.-North Vancouver, B.C.) had the assist. The Saints got outshot 15-2 in the period.
Carter Davis (
So.-Moose Jaw, Sask.) extended the CSS lead to 2-0, nine minutes into the third period with an even-handed goal.
Tyler Miller (
Fr.-Fort Frances, Ont.) and
Jeremy Dawes (
So.-Winnipeg, Man.) had the assists.
Less than four minutes later, the Saints put the game away when Jordan Chong scored his 12th goal of the season to make the final score 3-0.

Sr.-Quesnel, B.C.) had the assist.
Zach Kleiman (
Sr.-Ottawa, Ont.) completed the perfect weekend, stopping all 41 shots. He stopped 78 shots on the weekend to improve to 9-1-2 on the year. Nick Hopper had 26 saves in the loss for the Blue Devils. There were a total of 14 penalties in the contest.
CSS remains in second in the NCHA, three points behind first-place St. Norbert College and has a five-point edge on Stout. The win also guarantees that the Saints will host a first round series if they don’t win the regular season title.
The Saints will be at home next weekend as it will host the aforementioned St. Norbert College in a pivotal NCHA contest. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at Mars Lakeview Arena.
