BACSO AND MANSKE PLACE IN THE TOP 10 AT CCSA CHAMPIONSHIPS

NEGAUNEE, Mich. – The St. Scholastica men's nordic skiing team improved on its fifth place finish in yesterday's classic race to finish third out of eight teams in today's 20k freestyle race at the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) Ski Championships, hosted by Northern Michigan University.

#Mason Bacso# (Jr.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) led the Saints today earning a top five finish, placing fifth with a time of 51:04.4 seconds. He finished 2:21.8 seconds behind winner Santiago Ocariz of UW-Green Bay.

#Waylon Manske# (Jr.-Bemidji, Minn.) finished in ninth place with a time of 51:26.9 seconds. #Jeremy Hecker# (Fr.-Andover, Minn.) was third finisher for CSS as he placed 12th with a time of 52:05.5 seconds.

The Saints finished with 67 points, just six points behind freestyle team winner Northern Michigan. Michigan Tech finished a close second with 72 points. For the weekend, CSS finished in fourth place out of eight teams.

CSS will compete in one more weekend before the NCAA Championships as it will take part in the NCAA Central Regional next Saturday and Sunday in Houghton, Michigan.
