HAUKOM LEADS WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ALL-UMAC HONORS

DULUTH, Minn. – For the second consecutive year, #Kirsten Haukom# (Sr.-Marshall, Minn.) has been named first team All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC); it was announced today by UMAC Sports Information Director Greg Johnson.

Haukom was a first team selection last year after receiving honorable mention accolades the previous two years. Haukom saved her best year for last as she recorded career-highs in points (337), rebounds (154), and 3-pointers (39) in a season.

She finished fifth in the conference with 13 points per game, 10th in rebounding, sixth in assists, second in free throw percentage, and tied for third in 3-pointers made.

In the final game of the regular season, Haukom became the first CSS women's basketball player to register 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 200 assists in a career. She finished with 1,086 points, 518 rebounds, and 242 assists.

Haukom was also named to the conference's all-defensive team for the second time in her career. She was sixth in the league with 44 steals. She was last named to the all-defensive team in the 2007-08 season.

#Katie Christensen# (Sr.-Elk River, Minn.) was an honorable mention selection. She played in all 26 games for the first time in her career and averaged a career-best 9.3 points per game and was second in the UMAC with 2.9 assists per game.

Katie DeWitt of Northwestern College was named the UMAC Player of the Year. Emily Mehr of the University of Minnesota-Morris was named the UMAC Freshman of the Year and her coach Tim Grove was the Coach of the Year.
