SUPERIOR, Wis. – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team captured its sixth straight Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championship today, cruising to victory.

The Saints finished with 296 points. In second was the University of Minnesota-Morris with 160 points. Northwestern College was third with 76 points. North Central University was fourth with 46 points and Martin Luther College was fifth with 27 points.

CSS would break four records on the afternoon. #Katlin Krause# (Fr.-Motley, Minn./Pillager) broke multiple records as she broke the 100-meter dash record in prelims with a time of 12.75 seconds. She would end up winning the 100-meter dash in the finals. Krause also broke the pole vault record, clearing a height of 10'-0.5” (3.06m) to win that event.

#Stacey Peterson# (Sr.-Gilbert, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) broke the school record and won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.19 seconds. Peterson also won the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.93 seconds. Her third win on the day came as part of the 4x400-meter relay team, which also included #Hallie Miller# (Fr.-Cologne, Minn./Waconia), #Nikki Hughes# (So.-South Range, Wis./Northwestern), and #Jennifer Plaetz# (So.-Lucan, Minn./Wabasso). The team won with a time of 4:05.71 seconds.

#Rachel Miller# (Fr.-Hinckley, Minn./Hinckley-Finlayson) broke the final school record in the long jump with a leap of 16'-1.5” (4.91m). Miller also won the triple jump with a distance of 34'-11.75” (10.66m).

CSS swept the top two spots in the 100-meter hurdles with #Alex Aarestad# (Sr.-Halstad, Minn./Oak Grove) winning with a time of 16.21 seconds. Jennifer Plaetz (Lucan, Minn./Wabasso HS) was second. Plaetz did win the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:09.59 seconds.

Nikki Hughes (South Range, Wis./Northwestern HS) won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.86 seconds. #Katelyn Meger# (Sr.-Webster, Minn./New Prague) took the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:19.42 seconds.

The Saints took the first three spots in the high jump with #Katie Kimm# (Jr.-Mora, Minn.) coming out on top, clearing a height of 4'-11.5” (1.51m). #Katelin Domitrovich# (Sr.-Ontonagon, Mich.) was second and #Bre Lohn# (Fr.-Benson, Minn.) was third.

#Alec Seeley# (So.-Cadott, Wis.) won the hammer throw with a toss of 137'-7” (41.95m). She was also second in the shot put with a throw of 38'-5.5” (11.72m). The Saints finished second thru fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with #Julia Curry# (Jr.-Woodbury, Minn.) leading the way with a time of 12:46.24 seconds.

The Saints will compete at Hamline University's Meet of the UnSaintly on Friday.
