All-UMAC Release
ST. PAUL – The St. Scholastica men's tennis team had six players named to the All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) team and head coach
Wells Patten was named the conference's coach of the year; it was announced today.

Jr.-Rhinelander, Wis.), #Brendan Anderson# (
Jr.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata), #Jacob Engelstad# (
So.-Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln), #Kevin Hilpert# (
So.-Stillwater, Minn.), and #Brian Lindberg# (
So.-Hermantown, Minn.) all were named all-conference.
Sterle earns all-conference honors for the fourth season. He was named the UMAC Player of the Year the last two seasons after winning the No. 1 flight at the conference. He won the No. 1 flight for a third time this past weekend, but was not named player of the year. Sterle went 8-1 in UMAC matches this season. He finishes his St. Scholastica career with 46 singles wins, third-most in program history, including 29 at the No. 1 position, which is a program record.
Dean earns All-UMAC accolades for a second consecutive year. Dean won the No. 5 singles title and teamed with
Brian Lindberg (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) to win the No. 3 doubles title at this past weekend's tournament. He was 7-0 in conference singles matches and 9-0 in doubles matches this season. Dean will finish his CSS career with the second-highest singles winning percentage in program history (.724).
Anderson is named to the all-conference team for the second straight year. Anderson teamed with
Dillon Sterle (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) to win the No. 1 doubles title at the UMAC Tournament. Anderson was 4-0 in UMAC singles matches and was 6-2 in doubles matches.
Engelstad, Hilpert, and Lindberg also get all-conference laurels for a second time. Engelstad won at No. 2 singles and teamed with #Tucker Combs# (
Jr.-White Bear Lake, Minn.) to win the No. 2 doubles title at the UMAC Tournament. Engelstad set a program record with 18 singles victories this season.
Hilpert won the No. 4 singles title at the UMAC Tournament. He went 5-1 in conference singles matches and 4-1 in doubles matches.
As mentioned, Lindberg won the No. 3 doubles title with Dean. Lindberg went 7-1 in singles matches and 4-1 in doubles matches this season.
Patten is named UMAC Men's Coach of the Year for the second straight year and ninth time overall.
