MEN’S BASKETBALL LANDS A NEW YORKER

| By:
DULUTH, Minn. – Head men's basketball coach David Staniger announced today that Nick Biedakiewicz from Wellsville, N.Y. will attend the College of St. Scholastica in the fall and intends on playing for the Saints.

Biedakiewicz is a 6-1 guard from Wellsville High School. He averaged 17 points, nine rebounds, four steals, three assists, and two blocks per game during his senior season.

Biedakiewicz became familiar with St. Scholastica due to seven-year CSS assistant coach Joe Hennessey, who is also a Wellsville native.

“I always knew Joe growing up, and when he told me about Scholastica I became very interested, especially for the Exercise Physiology program,” Biedakiewicz said. “During my visit I had a great time, enjoyed the people, and really wanted a chance to play for the school under Joe and Coach Staniger.”

Biedakiewicz collected numerous awards throughout his high school career. He was a McDonald's All-Star Game selection. He is a Spectator Great 8 Player of the Year and a two-time first team selection. This past season he led Wellsville to its first-ever Section V title. He was a Section V all-tournament MVP and a two-time team MVP.

"We are very happy to have Nick Biedakiewicz join our basketball family,” Staniger said. “Nick is a great person and student. He has tremendous athletic ability and will fit in very well with our style of play."
His high school coach has been quoted as saying that Biedakiewicz is a “money player”.

“He hasn't lost many games in his career, and when the game is on the line, he wants the ball,” Head Wellsville Coach Jim Insley said.

Biedakiewicz said he is grateful for the opportunity and can't wait to get started at St. Schoalstica.
