MINNEAPOLIS – The St. Scholastica softball team fell by scores of 7-0 and 11-2 this evening to Gustavus Adolphus in a doubleheader at the University of Minnesota's Jane Sage Cowless Stadium.
The Saints fall to 26-13 overall, while the Gusties improve to 28-11. This was the last regular season game for the Saints.
In game one, #Merryssa Tiedeman# (
So.-Zumbrota, Minn./Zumbrota-Mazeppa) ripped a double to begin the game for the Saints. Unfortunately, CSS would only get one more hit the rest of the game. The Gusties led off the top of the second with a home run and then scored five unearned runs in the fourth. Gustavus added one more run in the sixth to make the final score 7-0.

Jr.-Altona, Man.) picked up the loss for the Saints, giving up just two earned runs. #Shannen Schmidt# (
Fr.-De Pere, Wis.) had the other hit for the Saints in game one.
In the nightcap, the Gusties scored two runs in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead. The Saints scored their first runs of the night on a #Theresa Tauer# (
So.-Plymouth, Minn./Wayzata) two-run double in the top of the third to tie the game at 2-2.
With two outs in the bottom half, the Gusties regained the lead with a two-run double and a RBI-single. Gustavus then exploded for six runs in the bottom of the fourth to win the game in five innings, 11-2.

Jr.-Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) had the loss for the Saints, her first of the season. The Saints only had three hits in game two. Tiedeman extended her program-record hitting streak to 23 games with a base hit in the top of the fifth.
The Saints will host the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Postseason Tournament this Friday and Saturday at Kenwood Field. Action begins at 10 a.m. on Friday.
