2010-11 Schedule
DULUTH, Minn. –St. Scholastica head women's hockey coach
Jackie MacMillan has announced the inaugural recruiting class and schedule for the 2010-11 season.
MacMillan really tried to go after some top tier level Division III hockey players with a goal in mind of being very competitive right away.
“I feel that we were able to get both quality students and athletes,” MacMillan said. “We were really looking for quality character people with good leadership skills that are able to come in here and make an impact right away.”
MacMillan also wanted to bring in student-athletes from all-different demographics by bringing in players from many different places.
“We have players coming in from Alaska, Wyoming, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia,” MacMillan said. “What really intrigued all of our incoming student-athletes were the people on the campus of St. Scholastica. Many of our incoming players talked about how St. Scholastica just felt like "home" to them because of how friendly people were everywhere on campus. The enthusiasm that people have shown here about the addition of women's hockey really made it very easy to get these young women excited about their future at St. Scholastica.”
The Saints will play their first-ever game at home on Friday, November 5th when they host Augsburg College at Mars Lakeview Arena. After another non-conference home game against Concordia-Moorhead on Sunday, CSS will play its first-ever Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) game against UW-Superior on Tuesday, November 9th at Wessman Arena. UWS will make its first trip to Mars Lakeview Arena a week later on Tuesday, November 16th. The final non-conference games on the slate will be at a four-team tournament in Buffalo, Minn., which includes the College of St. Benedict, Bethel, and St. Anselm (N.H.). The NCHA O'Brien Cup tournament will begin on February 25th.
Beginning next week we will begin to profile each member of the inaugural CSS women's hockey recruiting class.
