SAINT PETER, Minn. – The St. Scholastica volleyball team defeated Carleton College in four sets and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in straight sets on Saturday to finish the Gustavus Classic undefeated.

It hasn't been since 1999, head coach Dana Moore's third season, that the Saints (9-2) have had nine wins this early in the season.

CSS opened with Carleton College (2-5). The Knights took the first set 25-17 as the Saints struggled with seven kills and seven errors in the opening set.

St. Scholastica bounced back by taking the next two sets by the same 25-20 score. CSS had 14 kills and zero errors in the second set. The Saints closed out the match winning the fourth set 25-17.

#Anna Zyvoloski# led the Saints with 14 kills, while #Paige Hardy# was right behind her with 13 kills. #Sarah Kurtovich# had 43 set assists and #Nikki Hughes# led the way with 15 digs.

In the final match of the tournament against UW-River Falls (6-3), the Saints dominated the first set by a 25-13 score. CSS then took the next two sets 25-20 to win the match and the tournament, finishing unbeaten.

Hardy and Zyvoloski each had 10 kills apiece to lead the Saints and each were named to the all-tournament team.

Next weekend, the Saints will take part in the College of St. Benedict Holiday Inn-vitational. CSS will open with St. Kate's at 3 p.m. and St. Ben's at 7 p.m. on Friday.
