ASHLAND, Wis. – Thanks to four women scoring their first collegiate goals, the young St. Scholastica women's soccer team snapped a four-game losing streak and earned an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) victory over Northland College on Tuesday afternoon by a 6-1 final.

In the rematch of last year's UMAC championship game, the Saints improved to 1-4 on the season and are now 1-0 in-conference. Northland falls to 1-4 and is 0-1 in the UMAC.

The game stayed scoreless for the first 31 minutes, before freshman #Taylor Cunningham# netted her first career goal on a breakaway, with an assist going to #Shannon Carlson#. Cunningham added another unassisted score late in the game.

The 1-0 score held until three minutes into the second half, when Carlson picked up her own rebound and netted an unassisted tally.

The Saints continued their offensive assault, scoring three goals in seven minutes as #Kaylee Gombold# netted her first goal of the season in the 67th minute with an assist from #Megan Marolt#.

In the 73rd minute, #Shannon Lee# netted her first varsity score, a long-range shot which landed in the far corner. #Andrea Beatt# had the assist. Just over a minute later, Marolt netted another score for the Saints off a crossing pass from Lee.

Cunningham scored her second goal in the 83rd minute to put the Saints up 6-0 before Northland scored a goal late to break up the shutout.

#Bailey Mahlum# continued to play well and earned a victory for the Saints as her offense finally came alive, taking 19 shots in the victory.
