ST. PAUL, Minn. – #Paige Hardy#, #Sarah Kurtovich#, and #Nikki Hughes# swept the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Volleyball Player of Week Awards, while #Rob Johnson# was named the Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week; it was announced today.
Hardy is named offensive player of the week for the second consecutive week after recording 58 kills in four matches over the weekend at the St. Benedict Holiday Inn-Vitational. Hardy helped lead the Saints to a 2-2 mark and had 18 kills and 14 digs vs. 16th-ranked St. Olaf.
Kurtovich is named the setter of the week for the second straight week. Kurtovich averaged 9.38 assists per set while collecting 1.31 digs per set. She also was an offensive force for the Saints, averaging 1.25 kills per set, including six kills against No. 16 St. Olaf.
Hughes is named the defensive player of the week after a nearly perfect weekend where she had a 0.989 serve receive percentage. She only had one serve reception error in 16 sets played. The junior also averaged 4.38 digs per game and collected 10 aces on the weekend.
Johnson propelled the Saints to a 3-0 mark last week. Johnson scored the game winner in a 1-0 victory over Bethany Lutheran on Saturday and also had two goals against Martin Luther on Friday. In addition, he had two assists in a 4-1 win over Northland last Tuesday.
