HOUGHTON, Mich. – Sophomore #Jeremy Hecker# continued to lead the St. Scholastica men skiers at the USSA SuperTour at Michigan Tech in the men's 10km classic on Saturday.
Hecker posted at time of 31:36.5, to finish 19th overall in the SuperTour and seventh in the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) NCAA qualifier field.
Sun Valley, Idaho's Michael Sinnott won the SuperTour in a time of 29:35.2. Adam Kates of Big Thunder ski club in Thunder Bay, Ontario, was just three-tenths of a second behind in second overall. Olympian and CXC Elite Team member, Garrott Kuzzy, finished third just one second behind Kates.
Northern Michigan University's Martin Banerud, finished fifth in the SuperTour, but was the top CCSA finisher. He led a Wildcat sweep of the CCSA podium, with teammate Andy Liebner second, and Erik Soderman, third.
Saints sophomore #Kasey Bacso# finished 10th in the college race, 6.8 seconds behind Hecker. Senior #Waylon Manske# finished 15th in the CCSA, to round out the scoring for the Saints. The trio finished third as a team on the day, behind winner NMU and Michigan Tech.
The SuperTour continues in Houghton on Sunday with the men's 15km freestyle mass start.
