Curry Posts Season Best Ninth at Houghton Freestyle

HOUGHTON, Mich. – Senior #Julia Curry# led the St. Scholastica women's Nordic skiing team with a ninth place finish in the Central Collegiate Ski Association (CCSA) women's 10km freestyle mass start, as part of the USSA SuperTour at the Michigan Tech ski trails on Sunday.

Curry finished 13th overall in the SuperTour field with a time of 42:41.5, won by Olympian and CXC Elite Team member, Caitlin Compton in a time of 31:38.6.

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's Carolyn Freeman took top CCSA honors, finishing third overall in the SuperTour in a time of 33:38.5. Northern Michigan University's Christina Turman and Monica Markvardsen finished second and third, respectively.

Junior #Eleanor Magnuson# finished 18th in a time of 35:50.3. Senior #Lindsay Wallis# finished 23rd in 37:08.1 to round out Saints scoring. The Saints finished fourth as a team. Northern Michigan won, Michigan Tech finished second, and UW-Green Bay finished third.

The Saints will have next weekend off before taking part in the CCSA Championships, hosted by Northern Michigan University in two weeks in Ishpeming, Mich.
