Last Action:
The St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field teams competed at the St. Olaf Invitational this past weekend and had a strong showing on both sides. On the men's side there was one event winner and two school records broken. #Justin Hanson# broke the school record in the 55-meter hurdles as he ran a blistering time of 8.04 seconds to give him second place in the event. The other record was broken by #Cyrus Beckwith# in the Pole Vault. Beckwith cleared a height of 14'-1.25” (4.30m), which was good enough for third overall, but was the highest height cleared by a collegiate athlete. #Peter Drinkwine# was the lone event winner for the men's side as he jumped a distance of 41'-9.25” (12.73m) to give him the victory in the triple jump.
The women had two event wins and one record broken. It was a new week, but the same story for #Maggie Bair# as she broke the school record in the 55-meter hurdle final with a time of 8.51 seconds in the prelims and then won in the finals despite clipping a hurdle … #Alec Seeley# would leave the meet with a victory in the weight throw with a toss of 48'-9” (14.86m) which just missed her school record by two-hundredths of a meter.
2010 Border Battle:
The women won all three relays with three school records broken and five meet records set in the meet. Alec Seeley took third in the shot put with her school record breaking throw of 38'-10.5” (11.85m). CSS claimed four of the top five spots in the 400-meter dash. #Rachel Miller# would leap a distance of 34'-11” (10.64m) to give her second in the triple jump.
The men broke four school records with Justin Hanson being involved in three of those. Hanson broke his school record in both the hurdle events. Hanson ran a time of 8.20 seconds to finish fourth in the 55-meter hurdles. Hanson then ran a 26.23 seconds in the 200-meter hurdles to finish second in the event. The 4x200 relay team finished third in the event to finish third with a time 1:34.60 seconds. Cyrus Beckwith cleared a height of 13'-2.25” (4.02m) to break the school record at the time.
