Lawson Leads Men’s Cross Country Again at Griak Invitational

FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's cross country team was 19th out of 27 teams in the Division III race at Saturday's 27th annual University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational.

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse won the meet with 45 points. UW-Platteville was second with 96 points and UW-Eau Claire was third with 102 points. The Saints finished with 512 points.

Chris Lawson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) led the Saints for the third consecutive meet, finishing 50th overall with a time of 27:17. Charlie Habermann (Proctor, Minn./Proctor HS) was the next CSS runner across the finish line in 79th with a time of 27:50. Ethan Schubert (Two Harbors, Minn./Home School) also came in under the 28-minute mark with a time of 27:58 and in 89th place.

Ben Carlson (Rosemount, Minn./Rosemount HS (Saint Mary’s)) was 140th overall and posted a time of 29:27. Ryan Soule (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) completed the scoring for the Saints with a time of 30:25 and 154th overall.

The Saints will be in action next on October 13th when some members take part in the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational, while the remaining runners will compete in the Pre-UMAC Meet in New Ulm.
