James Mack (Portsmouth, England/Cams Hill School) and women's tennis'
Hillary Bungarden (Hibbing, Minn./Hibbing HS) have been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports; it was announced on Tuesday.
Hanson was named the UMAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of the Week. At Saturday's Border Battle, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Hanson set a program record, which was tied by teammate Mike Nauman, in the 200m hurdles with a time of 25.57. Hanson also won the 60m hurdles, finishing in 8.61.
Mack was named the UMAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week. In Saturday's season opener at St. Cloud State, Mack won his match at No. 2 singles 6-0, 7-5. He was also victorious at No. 2 doubles 8-0 in leading CSS to its first-ever victory over the Huskies 7-2.
Bungarden was named the UMAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week. In the season opener on Saturday against city rival University of Minnesota Duluth, Bungarden cruised at No.1 singles 6-3, 6-0. The 2012 UMAC Player of the Year also won at No. 1 doubles 8-6. For the first time, the Saints shut out their Division II neighbor 9-0.
