Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MORRIS, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica softball team's season came to an abrupt end as it was eliminated from the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Postseason Tournament after losing game one to No.4 seed Bethany Lutheran by a score of 5-4 and then losing 6-2 to host and No. 2 seed Minnesota Morris in the afternoon elimination game on Friday.  The Saints entered the tournament as the No. 1 seed.

In the first matchup against Bethany Lutheran, the Vikings jumped on the board first off of a RBI single to make the score 1-0.  CSS would get on the scoreboard in the second inning as Shauney Moen (Oak Grove, Minn./St. Francis HS) dropped down a bunt to score Nikki Logergren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS (Northern Stars)) off of a throwing error.  Tiff Hudack (Ashland, Wis./Ashland HS) would hit a RBI single up the middle scoring Sydney Gordon (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS).  Moen would score on a fielder's choice later in the inning to make the score 3-1.

The Vikings would tack on two runs in the top of fifth inning to tie the game at 3-3 when Ashley Jensen hit a two-RBI single to left field.  Logergren would double in the bottom of the inning to score pinch-runner Jenna Germscheid (Elk River, Minn./Elk River HS) to make the score 4-3 in favor of the Saints.

Bethany would take the lead for good in the top of the sixth inning off of a pair of RBI singles to put the Vikings up 5-4.  The Saints would get the tying run on second base in the final inning, but the game would end on a double play as the Saints fell 5-4.

Bethany (21-18) finished the game with 10 hits while committing two errors in the field.  Nicole Starkson picked up the win for the Vikings pitching all seven innings allowing 10 hits and striking out two batters.  Bethany advanced to the winner's bracket to face Martin Luther in the night cap.

Offensively, the Saints were led by Hudack, Rendi Johnson (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake HS), Logergren, and Moen with two hits apiece.  CSS took two walks in the game.

Darcy Roach (East Grand Forks, Minn./Sacred Heart HS) took the loss for the Saints pitching a complete game allowing 10 hits while striking out three Viking batters and walking two.

With the loss, the Saints were moved to bottom half of the bracket to face Morris in an elimination game. Morris lost earlier in the day to Martin Luther 14-4.

The Cougars would plate a run in the opening inning off a RBI single to put them up 1-0.  Like in the first game, CSS would answer in the bottom of the second inning as Hudack would double to score Kasandra McCabe (St. Peter, Minn./St. Peter HS) who reached base on a fielder's choice.

Morris would plate five runs in the top of the third inning to jump out to a 6-1 lead.  Two runs came off two consecutive bases loaded walks.

The teams were scoreless in innings four, five, and six.  In the bottom of the seventh inning, McGuiness would double down the right field line to start off the inning.

She would advance to third after and three batters later would score off of a Kara Warren (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Denfeld HS) single to make the score 6-2.  After a Logergren single to put a runner at third, the game and season ended for the Saints on a pop-up to shortstop as Morris held on to win 6-2 eliminating the Saints from the tournament.

Morris (19-17) finished the game with just eight hits while committing two errors in the field.  Mackenzie Weatherly picked up the win for the Cougars pitching a complete game allowing ten hits and two runs, both earned.  She would walk and strike out two CSS batters on the day.  The Cougars advanced to another elimination game tomorrow and the winning team of that game will have the chance to reach the UMAC title game.

For CSS, Logergren led the Saints with three hits followed by Hudack with two.  The Saints finished with 10 hits on the afternoon.

Johnson pitched 2.1 innings allowing five hits and six runs, three earned before being switch for Tracy Roach (East Grand Forks, Minn./Sacred Heart HS) who struck out seven Cougar batters.

St. Scholastica's season ends with a 24-14 overall record.  The Saints finished 17-4 in the UMAC.  CSS says farewell to two seniors, Bonnie Kowalczyk (Menomonee Falls, Wis./Menomonee Falls HS) and Darch Roach.
