2013 Schedule

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's soccer team has made the NCAA Tournament in five of the last six seasons and the Saints hope to not only get back to the tournament again this upcoming year, but also win a few games while there.

A Look Back at 2012
The Saints made their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance where they faced Loras College (Iowa). To get to Dubuque, the Saints won their ninth straight UMAC regular season title and second consecutive UMAC Tournament championship. However, things were a little different this time around as the regular season championship was not decided until the final day of the season because the Saints had lost to Minnesota Morris earlier in conference play. The 1-0 home loss to Minnesota Morris in mid-September was the first regular season conference loss in 99 consecutive games, dating back to the 2003 season. CSS got revenge on Morris by defeating the Cougars 1-0 in the UMAC Tournament Championship in overtime to advance to the NCAA Tournament. Andrea Beatt (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS) scored the game winner in overtime and was named the UMAC Tournament MVP. The Saints then played Loras in the first round of the national tournament and would fall to the Duhawks 2-0 after a pair of second half goals. Kelsey Kehtel (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) was named the UMAC Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season. Kehtel became the first CSS player to record back-to-back 20-goal seasons in program history.  Beatt and Kehtel were first team all-region selections, becoming the first two players in program history to earn first team NCAA All-Region accolades. Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS) and Logan Williamson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) were second team all-region choices.

Who Returns
The aforementioned Kehtel returns for her junior season, as does second team all-region choices Logan Williamson (Bloomington, Minn./Jefferson HS) and Kelsey Reeves (Eagle River, Alaska/Eagle River HS). The lone scoring loss for the Saints is Beatt and the other big loss for the Saints came on defense with Joey Moore (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS). Otherwise, CSS returns Shannon Carlson (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury HS), who scored 14 goals a season ago and junior Casey Mitchell (St. Cloud, Minn./St. Cloud Tech), who had 11 goals. Carlson led the team with 15 assists. Taylor Cunningham (Eau Claire, Wis./Eau Claire Memorial HS) is also back after finishing with 10 assists a season ago. Seniors Carlson and Cunningham were first team All-UMAC choices last season.

A solid group remains defensively with Williamson, senior captain Maggie Dolan (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village HS) and sophomore Alexi Bopray (River Falls, Wis./River Falls HS).

The Saints have depth on the perimeter with seniors Claire Lubansky (Chaska, Minn./Chaska HS) and Lauryn Wilson (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South HS), as well as, sophomore Morgan Osborne (Saint Peter, Minn./Saint Peter HS). In the middle, the Saints will look to sophomores Catherine Fisco (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS) and Kaylee Benson (Nowthen, Minn./Anoka HS), along with senior Lauren Lynch (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove HS). Defensively, Coach Reyelts is hoping for junior Amy Heilman (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS) and senior Kallie Thomas (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East HS) to fill the void left by Moore.
