PREVIEW: Track & Field Competes at Stout on Saturday

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's and women's track & field teams will be at the Blue Devil Open on Saturday, hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stout.

Men's Team
Head Coach: Kirk Nauman

-The Saints won five events at last week's Super 8 Open at Bemidji State University.
-Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) won two of those five events, sweeping the throwing competitions. In doing so, he was named the UMAC Athlete of the Week.
- His winning mark in the shot put was 48'1.75" (14.67m), which was only four centimeters shy of tying the program record. He also had a career best mark in the weight throw with a toss of 51'3.5" (15.63m).
-Josh Simmons (Houston, Texas/Jack Yates HS) (60m dash), Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) (60m hurdles) and Corey Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown HS) (high jump) were the other winners for the Saints.

Blue Devil Open:
-This will be the first time the Saints are competing in this meet since the 2007 season. Some will be back at Stout next weekend for the Warren Bowlus Open.

Women's Team
Head Coach: Kirk Nauman

-The Saints won seven events last week at the Super 8 Open.
-Becky Huberty (Lena, Wis./Lena HS) swept the shot put and weight throw competitions. She broke her own school record in the shot put with a mark of 44'3.5" (13.50m). That is currently ranked fourth in NCAA Division III. Her toss in the weight throw of 56'6.75" (17.24m) was just shy of the school record and currently ranks third in the nation.
-Maggie Bair (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS) was victorious in the 60m hurdles as was Brianna Buske (Bloomer, Wis./Bloomer HS) in the 600m dash.
-Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) won the 3000m run and Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) won the high jump.
-The 4x400m relay team of Maggie Kurtovich (Andover, Minn./Andover HS), Laurel Ohaju (Duluth, Minn./Duluth Central HS), Buske and Andrea Mogren (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) were the seventh winners on the day.
