DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team began its indoor season on Saturday with The Opener in the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.
Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) actually began his season Friday night with the start of the Heptathlon. Wagner dominated the other three participants from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, winning all seven events to set a program and facility record with 4,950 points. That beats his own previous record by over 100 points.
Wagner set career marks in the 60m dash with a time of 7.26 and in the high jump, clearing 6'3.25" (1.91m).
Riley Niebuhr (Wells, Minn./United South Central HS (Minn.-Duluth)) won the pole vault, clearing 13'11.25" (4.25m).
Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) was runner-up in the weight throw with a mark of 51'9.75" (15.79m). Peterson was also fourth in the shot put with a toss of 48'2" (14.68m).
Corey Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown HS) was second in the triple jump with a mark of 42'11.75" (13.10m). He was also third in the high jump, clearing 6'0" (1.83m).
Alex Horoshak (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 20'9" (6.32m).
Patrick Murphy (Forest Lake, Minn., Forest Lake HS) was fifth in the 60m dash, posting a time of 7.47.
The Saints will next be in action at the Bethel Open in St. Paul on Saturday, January 10.
