csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team opened its indoor season on Saturday by hosting "The Opener" in the Burns Wellness Center Fieldhouse.
Russert in PentathlonJunior
Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) was the first Saint to compete this season as she took part in the pentathlon on Friday night. Russert finished eighth overall with a personal-best score of 2,658 points. She ran a personal-best indoor time in the 800m run at 2:50.22. She also set a personal-best indoor mark in the shot put at 29'4" (8.94m).
Gophers in AttendanceThe University of Minnesota had four athletes competing in the pentathlon. They swept the top four spots of the event, led by reigning Big Ten Champion Jess Herauf, who set a facility record with 4,242 points. She beat the rest of the field by nearly 750 points.
Top CSS PerformancesTaylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) won the 1,000m run finishing in 3:05.67.
Emily Lundgren (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) placed third in the 600m run, posting a personal-best time of 1:40.05.
Alora Rands (Waconia, Minn., Waconia HS) was fifth in that event with a time of 1:44.54.
Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) was third in the high jump, clearing 5'1" (1.55m).
Hailey Fentem (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was fifth in that event, clearing 4'11" (1.50m).
Breanna Shofner (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was fourth in the 300m dash with a time of 43.23.
