DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica men's track & field team broke three program records on Saturday at the eighth annual Lake Superior Challenge at the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse.
Junior
Jeremy Peterson (Hermantown, Minn./Hermantown HS) won the weight throw, breaking his own program record with a mark of 56'10" (17.32m). Peterson also broke the program record in the shot put, placing fourth with toss of 48'8" (14.83m).
Kevin Wagner (Cleveland, Minn./Cleveland HS) won the 200m dash finishing in a personal-best time of 23.06. He was also third in the 60m dash, posting a time of 7.37.
Alex Horoshak (Two Harbors, Minn./Two Harbors HS) won the triple jump with mark of 42'6" (12.95m). He was also second in the long jump with a mark of 21'6.25" (6.56m).
Luke McKenzie (Taylors Falls, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) won the 1000m run to keep his unbeaten streak alive, finishing in a time of 2:34.85. In his first race of the indoor season,
Chris Lawson (Minneapolis, Minn./St. Anthony Village) was runner-up in the 3000m with time of 9:13.57.
Tony Anselmo (Bigfork, Minn./Bigfork HS ) broke the program record in the 500m dash, placing fifth with a time of 1:09.78.
The 4x400m relay team of Anselmo,
Cody Brostrom (Ham Lake, Minn./Blaine HS),
Aaron Egelkraut (Forest Lake, Minn./Forest Lake HS) and Wagner was second with a time of 3:36.61.
It was a runner-up finish for
Corey Anderson (Duluth, Minn./Hermantown HS) in the high jump, clearing 6'1.5" (1.87m).
Mike Naumann (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) was fourth in the 400m dash with a time of 55.10.
The Saints will be at a pair of meets next weekend with a portion traveling to Brookings, South Dakota and taking part in the South Dakota State Invite, while the rest will remain in the Twin Ports and compete at the Yellowjacket Open, hosted by UW-Superior.
