Krejcarek is one of 180 nominees from NCAA Division III. The NCAA Woman of the Year Award, which is in its 25
th year, honors graduating female student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.
Krejcarek was a three-sport athlete for CSS, competing in volleyball, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field. She graduated in May with degrees in Biology and Psychology (Pre-Med) with a 3.82 grade-point-average. Krejcarek was selected as the 2015 Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Scholar-Athlete Leadership Award recipient, the most prestigious honor for student-athletes recognized by the UMAC.
On the court and field of competition, Krejcarek was a two-year captain of the volleyball team and was an eight-time Academic All-UMAC honoree. She was twice-named All-UMAC during the indoor track & field season, as well as, the outdoor season. She was the outdoor conference champion in the pole vault in the 2015 season.
Off the court/field, Krejcarek was named to the Dean's List every semester and graduated with the highest honors. She served as the Student Senate Board of Trustees Representative, attending and participating in all St. Scholastica Board of Trustees meetings. She was a two-year member of the Student Senate. In addition, Krejcarek was the recipient of several academic scholarship awards and was part of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Pre-Med Club, Biology Club and Concert Choir.
On top of all that, Krejcarek provided assistance as a volunteer note-taker for disabled students. She also spent time reading in local elementary schools, worked with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization in Duluth, assisted the local YMCA and food shelf, and volunteered as a youth sports coach and to shove sand for an accessibility path to Lake Superior.
The NCAA encourages member schools to honor its top graduating female student-athletes each year by submitting their names for consideration for the Woman of the Year award.
Then, conferences assess each nominee's eligibility and select up to two conference nominees. All conference nominees are forwarded to the Woman of the Year selection committee, which chooses the top 30 honorees – 10 from each division.
From the top 30, the selection committee determines the top three nominees from each division and announces the top nine finalists in September. The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics then chooses from among those nine to determine the 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year.
The 2015 NCAA Woman of the Year winner will be announced, and the Top 30 honorees celebrated, at the annual award ceremony October 18 in Indianapolis.
