csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track & field team competed at the Lee Krough Invite on Saturday, hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College.
Hovland Wins 5k
Casey Hovland (North Branch, Minn./North Branch HS) won the 5,000m run, finishing with an outdoor-best time of 18:06.69 and beating the field by 25 seconds.
Top Performances
Nicole Christianson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids HS) was second in the high jump, clearing 5'5.25" (1.66m). Christianson was also third in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 16'8.5" (5.09m).
The 4x400m relay team of
Emily Lundgren (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS),
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS),
Jacqueline Kaplan (Elysian, Minn./Waterville-Elysian-Morristown HS) and
Breanna Shofner (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was runner-up with a time of 4:07.18.
Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) was fourth in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.66.
Hailey Fentem (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) was sixth in that event at 16.31.
Jordan Johnson (Poplar, Wis./Northwestern HS) finished fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 12:07.76.
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) placed sixth in the 800m run with a time of 2:22.08.
Emily Lundgren (Aitkin, Minn./Aitkin HS) was eighth in that event at 2:22.90.
Emily Conley (Marinette, Wis./Marinette HS) was ninth in the shot put with a mark of 37'1.75" (11.32m).

The Saints return to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse to compete at the Phil Esten Challenge next week. Competition begins on Thursday with the start of the Heptathlon. The other events will take place on Friday.
