UMAC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
ST. PAUL (
csssaints.com) – For the second consecutive week, three St. Scholastica athletes have been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Players of the Week; it was announced on Monday.
Junior
Donovan Blatz (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View HS) was named the UMAC Football Special Teams Player of the Week for the second time this season. It also marked the second straight week a Saint has been named the UMAC Special Teams Player of the Week. In Saturday's win at Crown College, Blatz was a perfect 7-for-7 on his extra point attempts, had three touchbacks on kickoffs and averaged 36.5 yards per punt, while landing one of his two punt attempts inside the 20 yard line.
Junior
Kailee Katt (Esko, Minn./Esko HS (St. Catherine)) was named the UMAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in the last three weeks. Katt had four points in three games last week. She assisted both of St. Scholastica's goals in a 2-2 tie against Macalester College on Monday. On Friday, she scored her second goal of the season from 40 yards out against Crown College.
Sophomore
Espi Austvold (Spicer, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) was named the UMAC Volleyball Setter of the Week. Austvold is the first CSS volleyball player to be named a player of the week this season. Austvold averaged 9.79 assists per set and totaled 137 assists in three matches last week. She recorded a career-high 58 assists in Tuesday's victory over Hamline University. She also had six service aces and averaged 2.36 digs per set during the week.
