WINONA, Minn. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's track and field team had its final meet before next week's conference outdoor championships, taking part in the Saint Mary's University Open on Saturday.
Gibson 400m Dash Winner
Taylor Gibson (La Crescent, Minn./La Crescent HS) did not set a personal-best time, but did win the 400m dash with a time of 59.35. She beat fellow UMAC rival Kelli Praska of the University of Wisconsin-Superior, who finished second. It was Gibson's second event win of the outdoor season.
Other Top Performances
Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) finished third in the 400m hurdles with a personal-best time of 1:07.01. Russert also placed fourth in the high jump, clearing a personal-best outdoor height of 4'11.5" (1.51m).
Elizabeth Poskie (Cotton, Minn./South Ridge HS) was also third in the 3,000m steeplechase, finishing in 12:20.33.
The 4x400m relay team of
Sammi Argir (Chisholm, Minn./Hibbing HS),
Anika Kling (Hudson, Wis./Hudson HS),
Breanna Shofner (International Falls, Minn./Falls HS) and Gibson were third with a time of 4:17.77
Mel Aviñon (San Martin de los Andes, Argentina, Ontario Hockey Academy) placed sixth in the 400m dash, posting a time of 1:01.69.
Brittany Ludwig (Alexandria, Minn./Jefferson HS) led a trio of Saints in the discus throw with a season-best mark of 129'6" (39.47m) to finish seventh.
Natalie St. Marie (St. Francis, Minn./St. Francis HS) was eighth and
Emily Conley (Marinette, Wis./Marinette HS) ninth in that event.
Mia Rudeck (Esko, Minn./Esko HS) was eighth in the pole vault, clearing 9'9" (2.97m).
