Hannah Russert (Caledonia, Minn./Caledonia HS ) wound up 13
th in the Heptathlon at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at the SPIRE Institute.
The Action
Russert entered competition on Friday in 11
th place. The first event of the day was the long jump and Russert was 11
th with a personal-best leap of 17'2.75" (5.25m). She followed that with another personal-best mark in the javelin throw at 102'1" (31.13m) to place 13
th in the event.
The final event was the 800m run and Russert just missed another personal-best with a finishing time of 2:32.63 and was 14
th in the event.
Russert finished with 4,432 points, just 45 points off her program-record performance last week. Three of Russert's seven events were personal-best performances. She becomes the first St. Scholastica women's track & field athlete to complete a Heptathlon or Pentathlon at a NCAA Championship.
Kylee Bartlett of the University of Rochester won with a total of 5,020 points.
End of Year
With the completion of action on Friday, not only does Russert see her career come to an end, but the St. Scholastica track & field season and CSS Athletics year comes to a close.
