Softball Announces Turcotte as New Assistant Coach

DULUTH, Minn. (csssaints.com) – Head St. Scholastica Softball Coach Rilee Dawson has named Sarah (Tarasewicz) Turcotte as the program's first full-time assistant coach; it was announced on Tuesday.
 
Turcotte, then Tarasewicz, was a standout softball player at the University of Wisconsin-Superior from 2002-05. As a catcher for the Yellowjackets, she was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-American in 2003, the 2005 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Player of the Year and a three-time First Team All-WIAC choice. She is tied for the conference record for career home runs (38) and holds the league record for career slugging percentage (.926). She led NCAA Division III in triples during the 2003 season.
 
The Hurley, Wisconsin native earned her Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from UWS in 2006.
 
"I am grateful and honored to be given the opportunity to join Rilee Dawson as an assistant coach at The College of St. Scholastica.," said Turcotte. "The Saints softball program has a tradition of excellence both on and off of the field that I am so excited to be a part of and to help uphold. This is a talented team and I look forward to working with them."
 
Turcotte was inducted into the UW-Superior Hall of Fame in 2011. She is also part of the UWS Hall of Fame as a member of the 2002 (2011) and 2004 (2010) conference championship teams. She is one of two former UWS players to be named to the WIAC All-Time Softball Team in 2012.
 
"I'm very excited to welcome Sarah to our softball program," said Dawson. "She will infuse our program with a fresh, mature view. I've been impressed by the passion she carries for coaching. Sarah will be a great role model for our players in not only leading them to be successful student-athletes, but more importantly, successful people." 
 
Since her graduation from UWS Turcotte has worked in the Athletic Communications Departments of Division I University of Central Florida and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She spent the past year working for Simon Property Group here in Duluth and was a volunteer coach for UWS during the 2016 season.
 
Turcotte is married to her husband, Dan, and the two have a three year old daughter named Veronica.
