ASHLAND, Wis. (
csssaints.com) – The St. Scholastica women's basketball team scored the first 13 points Wednesday night and never looked back in a 73-50 victory over Northland College in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) action.

Chelsea Swatek (Cromwell, Minn./Cromwell HS) drained a pair of 3-pointers and
Sam Brannen (Ramsey, Minn./Anoka HS) added five points in the 13-0 run to begin the game. Northland's first bucket came with four minutes to go in the first quarter.

Kaylee Kennedy (Littlefork, Minn./Littlefork-Big Falls HS) jumper made it 20-4 with two minutes left, but the LumberJills (1-15, 0-8 UMAC) finished the period strong and the Saints led 20-10 at the end of first quarter.
St. Scholastica began the second quarter by scoring 13 of the first 17 points.
Rashonna Thomas (Minneapolis, Minn./Columbia Heights HS (Anoka-Ramsey CC)) scored the last 11 points. The Saints led 33-19 at the half. Thomas was 4-for-4 from the field, including 2-for-2 from beyond the arc in the quarter.
CSS remained in control in the second half as the 'Jills did not get any closer than the halftime deficit. The Saints widened the lead to as much as 31 in the fourth quarter and won by a final of 73-50.

Thomas finished with a season-high 23 points. Brannen finished with nine points with Swatek and
Taylor Nowling (Mora, Minn./Mora HS) adding eight points each.
Holly VanKempen (Elbow Lake, Minn./West Central HS) grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

Emily Wagner scored nine points to lead the LumberJills.
