Kirk Nauman enters his third season as the men’s and women’s track & field coach at St. Scholastica. Coach Nauman has made great strides with the CSS Track & Field program in his three years, coaching the school’s first All-American in 2009 and increasing the size of both teams greatly.

Nauman has guided the Saints to back-to-back UMAC Women’s Championships and won the 2009 UMAC Men’s Championship. He was named the UMAC Women’s Coach of the Year in 2008 and the UMAC Men’s Coach of the Year in 2009.

After a four-year run at Saint Mary's University, Nauman took over a healthy CSS program that had won six of the last seven track and field titles in the UMAC -- 2006 women's outdoor crown, 2007 men's and women's indoor titles, and 2007 and 2009 men's and women's outdoor championships.

During his four years at Saint Mary’s, Nauman's success reached from the program level -- 72 Cardinal event records broken -- to the national level.

He landed at least one Cardinal athlete at an NCAA Division III Championship meet in each of his four years leading the program in Winona. Of the 17 NCAA participants from SMU, four achieved All-American status. Two Cardinal surpassed championship automatic qualifying standards while 37 more bettered provisional qualifying cuts. Eighteen of his athletes also were honored with USTFCCCA All-Academic Team selection.

Within the MIAC conference, Nauman coached 13 conference champions, three MIAC record-holders, 60 all-conference selections, and a pair of field athletes of the meet. He was also named the 2005 MIAC Indoor Coach of the Year.

Nauman joins his wife, Saints volleyball volunteer assistant coach Jaime Nauman, in Duluth.
